Yoga

Yoga is mindful movement. We move through our days creating patterns in the body that do not always serve us. Yoga is simply time and space to pay attention to the breath & body, let go of unhelpful patterns, and create more healthy patterns. Yoga classes involve working with your own body & breath to find ease, strength, and balance that you can incorporate into your daily life.
Mobility + Strength classes incorporate strength and length in the body through yoga postures, strength training, and Functional Range Conditioning. Classes are meant to challenge the muscles and support strength and mobility in your joints. Our days are filled with sitting, driving, computers, and even sometimes our exercises limit our mobility. Mobility and Strength classes train the body in natural movements that we tend to do less of as we get older. Beneficial for people with tightness and pain as well as the athlete who wants to become more well rounded and create healthy movements for life.
Alignment Awareness Yoga classes focus on mindful alignment, movement and breath.  We use yoga postures to both stretch and strengthen the body.  Classes start with mindful movement and progress to more heat building and strengthening postures.  Yoga class are open to everybody at all levels.  Variations are provided to accommodate differences in our bodies and stages of life.
Yin/Restorative Yoga classes are slower, more relaxing, and focus on gentle stretching & movement.  Gentle stretches are held for longer periods of time so the muscles can let go and receive a deep stretch.  During this slowed down time, the nervous system gets a chance to rest and restore the body back to health leading to decreased stress, better sleep, and increased overall wellness.
Mindfulness Meditation classes are a mix of guided instruction, guided meditation, and time to practice cultivating attention.  It is NOT an hour of sitting quiet.  Questions and dialogue are welcome at designated times.  This class aims to give you tools to start your own mediation practice or continue to cultivate your existing meditation.  This is a donation based community class and all ages are welcome, both beginners and more experienced practitioners. Read more Mindfulness Meditation or watch a short video by going to the Mindfulness page.
Teen Yoga classes are mostly for middle to high school age students.  The focus is on mindful alignment, movement and breath.  We use yoga postures to both stretch and strengthen the body.  Classes start with mindful movement and progress to more heat building and strengthening postures.  This class is really about moving mindfully with your own body & breath.  By focusing on alignment and movement we cultivate a gentle focus, a meditation that helps to center and calm the mind, leading to a more balanced healthy life.  If you have any questions feel free to contact me.
