Medical Massage Therapy

Medical Massage Therapy is the use of a manual manipulation to train the brain into more functional patterns. The human body is an intricate web of bones, muscles, fascia, and more. Pain or lack of mobility is the result of imbalances in activation & relaxation of the systems. Massage therapy aims to find these imbalances and guide the body to more helpful patterns through proprioceptive reeducation and neurological input.

Yoga & Mindful Strength

Yoga is mindful movement. We move through our days creating patterns in the body that do not always serve us. Yoga is time and space to pay attention to the breath & body, let go of unhelpful patterns, and create more healthy patterns. Yoga classes involve working with your own body & breath to find ease, strength, and balance that you can incorporate into your daily life.

Functional Movement Training

Therapeutic sessions blend massage, movement training, and everyday postural education so that your body can retain the results and stay pain-free and mobile. We educate the body on new ways of being and create more functional patterns. This approach is incredibly helpful for pain reduction, injury rehab, increased athletic performance, and much more.

Steps to Rehab, Strength & Injury Prevention

1) Massage : Reorganize & Retrain Muscles
2) Mindset : Mindful Strength & Resilience
3) Movement : Functional Mobility Exercise

Movement

Movement is life. Even in stillness there is movement.  We are born with patterns of movement from our breath to stabilizing the body for rolling over to crawling to walking. We have neuromuscular (brain to muscle) patterns that inform movement. Sometimes these patterns become not so functional. Our pain, discomfort, loss of mobility, can be a result of this. By working with these patterns we can decrease pain, increase mobility, and create life long healthy patterns that keep us going.  Although traditional massage therapy is helpful, when combined with movement reeducation and mindfulness, long lasting changes can create true rehabilitation.
